Giving books to charity

My daughter is in her second year of university, and I have finally got her to clear out some of her old books. So yesterday I filled a cardboard box with some of them and took them down to the Oxfam shop. But, there were books I couldn't bear to give away! Who can part with a copy of 'One Snowy Night' that they remember reading to all three of their children? Not me.

Still I managed to get a boxful together and there are about as many again to go. Then I can start on the bags of old clothes filling odd corners and on the top of wardrobes. It would be easier to get motivated if it was possible to park anywhere near any of our local charity shops. I think I will have to try going out very early in the morning and dump the bags of clothes on the door steps of the shops. I do like to spread my offerings around and not just give them all to one charity.

Well the daughter has been safely delivered to University. It took me 3 hours to drive there along the M62 and the A1(M), and 5 hours to drive back. The weather was awful going and okay coming back, but the traffic was really heavy coming back, which is why it took longer.

I am knackered!!!

Nice day today. Still very cold, but the snow has mostly disappeared. This is good as I have to take the daughter back to Uni tomorrow, and that means driving over the Pennines! I just love the M62, not. But as all the other routes seem to be closed, I'll play it safe and head for the M62.

I got a delivery from Avon yesterday, so I will be out delivering stuff this evening. Hoping for an early night and a good nights sleep.

Finally watched the end of season 1 of Eureka. I got the DVD's for Christmas, but haven't had time to watch them. Did some ironing this afternoon (all the day was fit for). Now on to season 2!

Waiting to see if it will snow again tonight.

Need to get the daughter back to uni in Durham this week. The day depends on the weather. She is in a rented house, so I might take her up on Thursday or Friday and stay over rather than try and do the trip all in the same day.

Weather Report

Beautiful sunny day today, clear skies, its going to be cold tonight. Its very still, but the forecast is for wind tomorrow, not looking forward to that!

The lake at the end of my garden, which is filled by the Irish Sea at high tide, has ice on it. How cold does it have to be for salt water to freeze?

A new year, anothter new start!

Hi to all my devoted readers!!

I read something about keeping a diary, but just writing one sentance a day. So I am going to give that a go.

My sentance for today is:

Its cold and snowy and all the men in my life have man-flu, (to be fair youngest son has a temperature of 38.1, so he is ill, not so sure about eldest son).
